Welcome to Burnham Tennis Association's new website, new as of November 2009. As we transfer from the old site, please be patient while we complete the move. BTA members ..... please share your ideas with us, use the Home Page>Contact Us facility. Tell us whether the site provides what you want and in a suitable format. If you think of additional things that would be useful, let us know.
To find out what is happening and when, or best times to get a court for a pre-arranged four, please refer to the Programme 2009-10 and Year Round Schedule. News and Forthcoming Events FROSTBITE TOURNAMENT - Sunday morning December 20th Come and join in the annual Frostbite Tournament on Sunday morning December 20th, from 10.00 to 12.30. Open to all members, just turn up on the day and play. And afterwards ..... join the seasonal merriment in the clubhouse and enjoy wine and mince pies. As per tradition, men bring the wine and ladies bring various seasonal goodies, but feel free to contribute either or something completely different! See you there! AGM news The new Men's Captain is Andrew Ratcliff. We wish Andrew the best as he takes on this role, please support him with your enthusiastic availability for team selection. The present Officers and Committee all agreed to stand for re-election ..... and those [few!] members present voted them in! Burnham Tennis AGM: Thursday November 5th, 2009, 8.00pm in the club house Remember, remember the 5th of November ...... PLEASE COME TO THE BTA AGM, the Committee would really value the support of all members. And there's wine and nibbles to enjoy with tennis friends afterwards. In addition to formal aspects of the meeting, the AGM provides an opportunity for you to: * find out how BTA is managed and how we are dealing with various ongoing challenges * raise any issues or questions to Committee * inject your idea(s) and thus influence tennis at BTA * volunteer your skill or time to take on a task, there are many - Committee members are all volunteers too! * share your views about the Wimbledon tickets ballot, under new rules from 2009 All Committee posts are up for re-election each year and we always appreciate offers of 'new blood'! We prefer to have questions under AOB in advance so as to ensure that Committee members are properly briefed, but if a question comes to mind on the night, we'll do our best to answer it. As well as being signed up to British Tennis, your chances of winning Wimbledon tickets in the club ballot in 2010 will increase if you attend the AGM (not applicable to juniors/students). Apologies amd questions/AOB to Jane Miller, Honorary Secretary rjm@millercrooks.co.uk. Floodlights Generator Project GOOD NEWS! We have received a grant of £5,000 from Mars Support for Sport to be used for part-funding of the new generator. The Generator Project, initiated and managed by Howard Trill, involves the purchase and installation of a diesel-powered generator adjacent to the courts. This will provide an alternative power supply for the floodlights; when in use, we shall also be able to have light and power as usual inside the club house - much more comfortable for waiting players or parents! The Planning Application is under review by local Councils and once that is approved, we'll be able to estimate the completion date. The Frost Cup The FROST CUP will take place at BTA on SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, starting at 1.30pm. The Frost Cup is open to members and non-members and is a Mixed doubles tournament. Please contact the Referee, Peter Downes, for details on how to enter. On-court quote during a friendly four August 4: .... nice long rally, the only suspect shot was the one that won it!
